The series was based on Platonic Solids. They were named after the ancient philosopher Plato who theorised that the classical elements (fire, earth, air, water and spirit) were constructed from regular solids (tetrahedron, cubes, octahedron, dodecahedron and icosahedrons).
Each ring had a theme, for example, water which is constructed from components of dodecahedron, meant that the pattern created is a reflection on the behaviour of the element. This design was constructed in wax using a rapid prototyping machine and then cast in sterling silver. The aim of this process was to fully realise the journey from computer aided drawing to completed object.
