Miriam McWilliam has over ten brightly-shining-candles worth of experience in the design industry after graduating from RMIT BA Communication Design in 2005. In this time she has worked for a number of reputable studios, agencies and organisations, whilst working on some exciting projects for her own clients in industries such as not-for-profit, arts, cultural and community organisations, hospitality, tourism, property, museums and galleries, government and a wide cross-section of small-medium start-up businesses. Her areas of speciality are brand identities, publication, book and website design, short videos, exhibitions, experiential and event design.
Miriam also has experience in illustration and photography for which she has exhibited both locally and abroad. In 2014 she joined forces with florist Megan Schmidtke and co-founded the creative collective Mimi-Myrtle +Co. focusing on both their areas of speciality; design and flowers and also combining their joint talents to style for spaces and events. Through Mimi-Myrtle +Co. Miriam has hosted a variety of creative workshops and also curates and runs a small online shop, showcasing a selection of artisan wares from local creatives and vintage curiosities which she collects by hand.
When freelancing in the UK (2007-2009), she spent some of her time lecturing Digital Media, Typography and Print Design to first and second year Communication Design students at Edinburgh Napier University.
Equipped with a highly flexible range of skills, complemented by high standards of delivery, she prides herself on exceptional attention to detail, strong conceptually-driven communication design, honesty, reliability, with a sincerely friendly and professional approach. As every client will testify - she has the drive to work creatively, within the constraints of deadlines and budgets - taking projects from start to finish, and when required working collaboratively with other talented individuals to produce something truly remarkable for each and every project.
Above all, she always aims to communicate a conceptually engaging, beautiful sensory feast for every project, no matter what the medium; be it on a window or a wall, a pieces of print, an installation or signage for an exhibition or event, a video, or creating a brand from the ground up.
Miriam is always looking to develop professional relationships with studios that are looking for some freelance help in her areas of speciality.
