pointe to pavement

About the project

Commercial photographs of Melbourne based fashion designer Erin Coster's 2011 ballet inspire range.

Candy colours, soft pastel palette of pinks, blues and gentle lemons, lens flare blowouts and a low contrasted solar flare that creates a summer feel.
Pointe to Pavement garment range by Erin Coster is inspired by the ballet and ballet attire; I took these generalized ‘pretty’ and ‘girly’ aspects and tried to reinterpret them. Rearranging gender roles and subverting sexual identites by creating two ‘anomalies’ – the drag queen, transsexual and the androgynous or 1980’s power woman.
Moving into an age of asexuality, androgyny and anonymity, I aimed to create a feeling of high fashion ‘beauty’ and an atmosphere of the angelic and gorgeous with a twist – a challenge to the viewer to not find these identities sexual, powerful and beautiful.

I love this! Is this different gradients - the lens flares? Or the master does not reveal the secrets ? :)
