This was a project I completed during my time at C.I.T. Here, we were to take an existing restaurant and following the clients brief, create the space into something which pleased the client and kept within the project budget.
The existing restaurant was called The Pony Club and is located on Beaufort Street, Mt Hawthorn, Perth. It is very enclosed, with minimal windows, therefor an lack of natural light was provided. The client also requested for different spaces to be created with in the venue, including a lounge area. I used metallic wallpapers and paints and mirrors to help luminate the room and bring it to life. I added a lounge area next to the existing bar, and also added in a casual dining area out the front for the "relaxed Sunday Coffee and Paper diner" and also banquette seating along most of the walls. This helped with the unsual shaped area and also assisted with the minimalst furniture look I was going for, I was trying to keep the delicate chandalier lighting and exquisite wallpaper.
I decided to re name the restaurant (with the clients permission) to Antileon. Antileon is an Amazon Goddess, meaning 'bold as a lion'. An immigrant from Egypt, she fought with Androdameia during the Third Doric Raid. This name came from the rich, but subtle use of colour. Metallic neutrals with a lime wash pine floor board through out. Unique textures were used throughout, especially in the fabrication, mimicking that of a python.
This grad, plain restaurant has now been transformed into a luxurious, lively bar/restaurant with a graceful, elegant feel and vibe.
