About Jon

I’m a writer-director and cinematographer, with a passion for the art of the visual medium. I admire directors and cinematographers who can enrich the world with unique and visceral imagery which portends concepts, ideals or stories. Film and videography today have become a synthesis of diverse styles and mediums which translate magically from paper onto a digital canvas, and I enjoy thriving in such an industry, among filmmakers and other creatives.

After studying screen and media production at R.M.I.T in the mid naughties, I continued working as a music composer and music producer (which was my main vocation before film), collaborating in musical projects and creating several compositions for media productions. In 2010 I decided to finally spread my creative wings and move to Berlin where I became involved in a small German film company, Lemon Face Films, and worked with the DOP as a cinematographer for a number of video shoots; including music, promotional and documentary videos. During this time in Berlin I became involved in the Berlin arts and music scene and was commissioned to create several short documentary pieces for artists; most notably, a piece on abstract painter, Djuneid Dulloo. I then worked as a freelance videographer on several corporate projects in Berlin and made my first short film titled ‘Verloren’, which received positive reviews, especially for its cinematography.

In 2012 I retuned to Melbourne, Australia and began working on several projects, including corporate shoots, live performance videos, music videos and personal projects. During 2013 I was contracted by a number of corporate organizations to create promotional videos for TINYGIANT, and have continued directing corporate and commercial videos while writing a web series, working as an editor and freelancing on short-term projects.
