What we can give to you
We are seeking a digital designer who has a deep understanding of graphical design and how human beings access information to make decisions. We need someone to bring our web sites, catalogues and all digital information into the modern age!
This person must really get - to the core of their being - how the categorization and hierarchy of information aids (or bamboozles) understanding. They must have an almost obsessive degree of attention to detail regarding the use of colour, fonts, shape, movement, copywriting and every aspect of design to communicate effectively.
They must like our products and who we are, but hate our existing web sites and be able to articulate what is wrong with them and how they need to improve:
The first question in the interview will be "which web sites should we be drawing inspiration from when redesigning ours and why?" and we expect you to come to the interview prepared with an answer!
This job is a full time permanent position that will evolve over time. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Sales and IT Managers, you will drive every aspect of our marketing from a design perspective.
This job is hands-on in terms of being an Adobe expert (InDesign, PhotoShop), and if you have practical back end web development skills yourself that would be a huge plus; but if you need to work with an Odesk techie to implement your vision that's fine too. The important thing for us is that you become a product expert and generate the content (so expect to roll up your sleeves and take photos (product stills and field application shots) and make videos and upload web content on an ongoing basis. Also important is that you don't sign off the work as finished until it's perfect (including Google optimization, load-up speeds etc.).
We want someone who gets how to find customers at the point they are making a decision to buy and make sure our relevant and elegantly simple information comes right to them and calls them to action. And if it looks cool at the same time that would be awesome!
