Thylacine is a dynamic multidisciplinary design and fabrication company of twenty-two staff with offices in Canberra and Melbourne. We work nationally and internationally in the cultural sector on museum design and urban art projects. We are seeking a friendly, experienced, highly motivated and efficient studio manager with experience in design or architectural practice to join our team in the Canberra office.
You will work with the management team and project leads to manage studio resources, develop a workflow structure, review and manage daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to the highest possible quality.
As the principal traffic manager within the organisation you will work closely with the management team and project leads across all of Thylacine’s projects to identify and plan ahead for pinch points and manage resources accordingly.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage progress of all jobs through the design studios and fabrication workshop.Help develop workflow structure and project management systems within Thylacine.Review daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules of the creative department and workshop.Ensure work is delivered to deadlines and to the highest possible standard.Compile and regularly update studio schedules.Keep all relevant departments informed about project status.Manage employee’s annual leave to ensure projects are adequately resourced across both permanent and freelance staff.Allocate projects, jobs and tasks according to designer’s capacities and capabilities.Track financial progress of projects in relation to milestones and timeframes.Assess and coordinate incoming tenders.Quality control and proofing studio output.Provide support to project teams and help to develop studio culture.
Essential selection criteriaMinimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, verbal and written.Experience in working with relevant project management software to manage multiple teams and projects across multiple locations.Experience in building management systems for design agencies.Be highly motivated, organised, meticulous and detail orientated.Excellent interpersonal skills, with a friendly and team-orientated personality.Experience in resource management.
Highly desirableA background in design or architectural practice.Experience with graphic design and/or architectural software.Experience in managing complex projects from concept to completion, including liaising with project stakeholders including clients, sub-consultants and fabricators.Experience in interior and interpretive design
$75,000 to $90,000 per annum plus superannuation
