Position Dimension

Reporting directly to the Marketing & Engagement Manager, this newly created role is responsible for developing event programs, marketing collateral, reports, flyers, invitations, presentations, logos, certificates, magazines for the AFA.

The AFA strives to achieve ongoing relevance with all stakeholders and effective design collateral are an essential part of engagement with the AFA Community.

Networking relationships

To achieve the objectives of this role, AFA Graphic Designer, it is dependent on the following internal and/or external networks:

  • CEO, GM Partnerships & Campus AFA, GM Policy & Professionalism, Member Services Manager, Marketing & Engagement Manager.
  • AFA Staff.
  • AFA Contractors (eg 64Media, Brand Solutions, Jenesis, TPM Events).
  • Corporate and Licensee Partners.
  • Participants at all levels of the financial advice market.
  • AFA Board members.
  • Communities of Practice, Working Groups and State Committees.
  • Media.

Key Functions

  • Graphic design and document production to maintain AFA Brand; which inform and influence financial advisers and members about AFA events. This will include;
    • Designing reports, flyers, invitations, presentations, logos, newsletter templates and certificates.
    • Gradually brining the design of the AFA Magazine in house to be managed by the appointed Graphic Designer.
    • Ensuring all AFA visual communications adhere to AFA Style guidelines.
    • Liaising with external printers to oversee the printing of AFA publications.
  • Create artwork for AFA social media channels following direction from AFA Marketing Manager.
  • Designing our national events programs.
  • Designing sponsorship documents.
  • Working with teams across the AFA to interpret and design concepts, marketing collateral for their respective teams.
  • Updating AFA website at direction from the Marketing Manager.
  • Editing event footage from AFA events.
  • Providing proofs of AFA designs to Marketing Manager and delivering on edits in a timely manner.
  • Working to design deadlines as required.
  • Updating AFA logos.
  • Assisting with strategies to promote AFA events and activities in collaboration with other staff.


  • Demonstrated experience with desktop publishing using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to produce visual materials that will appeal to financial advisers.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and edit content for publications.
  • Experience liaising with designers, printers and knowledge for print processes.
  • Ability to work on simultaneous projects within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience using social media.
  • Experience in editing and managing website content.


  • Experience or a strong commitment to working in the Financial Services Industry.
