Sydney-based Balarinji is recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager for a client relationships role. We are a leading Australian strategy and design practice working throughout Australia and on international projects. Established in 1983, we have been at the forefront of integrating Indigenous sensibility across major infrastructure and branding/communications projects for thirty five years.
Best known for conceptualising Aboriginal art on Qantas aircraft, we also count in our client portfolio, Lendlease, Roads and Marine Services NSW, Urban Growth NSW, Indigenous Business Australia, the Australian Paralympic Committee, Nespresso and commemoration work in Europe for Department of Veterans Affairs.
We assist our national and international clients to express Australian identity through best practice strategic review and planning, Indigenous engagement, construction, interiors, public art, digital and design and communications.
Balarinji's affiliated not-for-profit, the Moriarty Foundation, run separately, is an initiative that enables Aboriginal families and communities to unlock the potential of their children, to radically shift intergenerational disadvantage.
This permanent full-time position reports directly to the Managing Director and will be a member of the Balarinji Management Team, together with the Chief Financial Officer. You will be joining a company that invests in collegiate, engaged teams, robust structures and high functioning staff who enjoy doing great work together. Long term client relationships underpin the revenue generation strategies you will be driving.

Strong pitching and revenue conversion performance in a prior business development or account director role is essential, but direct Aboriginal content experience is not necessarily required. You will be experienced managing multiple clients at any one time and thrive working in a fast paced work environment.
The role will externally liaise with Senior Corporate Directors including CEOs, Managing Directors, Group Heads & Marketing Directors, Group Heads of Business Units, Procurement Directors and Senior Government Agency Directors including Indigenous Program Directors and National Procurement Directors.
This role liaises with Finance and Project Management.
Position Qualification & Experience Requirements:
A Business Development Manager with a proven results-driven background gained within a commercial environment, you will demonstrate previous experience in developing strong long term client relationships and enjoy converting new business. You will be a creative, strategic thinker, and an excellent verbal and written communicator, operating with high attention to detail. You will have the requisite skillset and interest to optimise business development, maintain the highest ethics, integrity and professionalism, and have a strong team player mindset that thrives on delivering in a fast turn around environment.
