What is Paper Pocket?
Paper Pocket is a stationery brand that was established three years ago with a portfolio of 12 products. This has now grown to more than 200 products, with plans for continual expansion. As part of Universal Media Company, Paper Pocket is backed by more than 30 yearsâ media industry experience.
Working closely with the Paper Pocket team, the successful candidate will work on the development of existing and new brands, from end-to-end idea development through to product design, ensuring all marketing collateral across print and digital mediums are of the highest calibre, including point of sale, campaigns and proposal presentations. This is a 3 month contract role, ( 5 days a week) based in North Ryde, with flexible working hours on offer for the right candidate. You will be continually supported by a team of enthusiastic Individuals who love what they do and will be presented with the opportunity to hone your creative skill set and be involved with the launch of new products from start to finish. The core part of the role is designing 150+ products, following written briefs provided and also following strict Licensed brand style guidelines (including NRL, WWE, May Gibbs, Hyundai A-League, Socceroos, The Wiggles and more.)
Collaborate closely with the Paper Pocket team from conception, marketing and sales
New product development across diaries, calendars and journal ranges
Research forecast and interpret trends and product design in the stationery category
Design 150+ different products: diaries, calendars and journals (stationery range)
Work with national and global brands through licensed product development
End-to-end design across the entire portfolio
Products based around hand illustration/and digital graphics
Brand development (existing and new)
Work as part of a team to complete assigned projects within the time frames provided
Think outside the square and challenge briefs wherever possible, including understanding license partner requests, and offer the best design solutions possible
A strong design portfolio including illustration work
Excellent drawing and hand illustration skills
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Superb attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team and a dynamic working environment, as well as competence to work autonomously
Be able to meet tight deadlines
Hold a tertiary design qualification (previous industry experience is highly regarded but not essential)
Experience in design for digital platforms including website, social media handles and other electronic communication is desirable
