LA BRIDE IS HIRING.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Graphic Designer to join our small but highly passionate team.
We would prefer applicants to have at least 1 year of industry experience, be highly motivated and a team player. Your role will be mainly responsible for designing an online magazine based on editorial events (La Bridal Shoot) we organise. You should be efficient with the Adobe suite and able to prepare art for print possibility.

La Bride was established in 2013 to fill the gap of an industry, acting as a bridge that connects people together. We are a bilingual wedding blog based in Sydney with an International audience. Most of our content is delivered in Chinese & English, tailored for the growing number of styling savvy couples, who are looking for the latest inspiration and vendors in Australia and overseas.We push the latest and most exciting source of inspiration for brides and grooms of Chinese/English reading background.
The position is a 2 to 3 months contract with the possibility of a full/part time role thereafter.

About The Role
You're going to need to have a design background and I’d love to add someone to
the team that understand the 3rd dimension and didn’t do crazy shit
like putting 25mm H text 600mm H from the floor. Yes, it’s happened and it was with an agency
billing out the senior designer at $600 an hour. Don’t get me started…
want to hand over things like doing up electrical and lighting plans by
overlaying this on a floorplan in Illustrator.
Don’t worry about not know about GPO’s and lighting tracks right now, I
can teach you that but I do need you to know Illustrator/ Photoshop / PDF
will also need you to set up written specs for the client’s agency to produce
artwork off (you’ll need to know you’re way around excel)
need you to seek quotes for graphic production from our suppliers so knowing
Word is a must.
we get the graphics from the agency we check them to make sure they have been
set up right and then we write the specs for the print producer. It’s important that you are clear headed and
patient for this part of the role as you will often need to call the agencies
producing the artwork and explain for the 6th time how you need
files supplied with fonts outlined in order to be produced.
also need you drop in the agency artwork into Illustrator elevations so the
installers on site know what goes where.
need to create graphics for social media posts once I can be arsed getting that
up and happening again
need you to take the role on of selecting best images from the photos taken of
our completed jobs and have them uploaded to our website. No stress is you don’t know website coding,
we can outsource that to my current web designer but if you’d like control over
this…go for gold!
will need you to create one set of standard word files / Illustrator templates
for the team to use because I swear that we each have our own version.
though most of my clients have agencies that they can use for sales office
design, increasingly I’m finding they are asking me for initial ideas and they
also need artwork created at times for stuff they just don’t want to get the
agency involved with as they really nail stuff first go and the client just
wants an easy solution. So please don’t
think that this role will be mainly about setting up other agency work. There is fair scope for you to design. I’ve just never sought this out actively as I
did not have my own in-house designer and I was stacked with work anyway!
be responsible for the look, feel and presentation of the Diva Works brand. No pressure.

About The Role
are going to need a background in building / installations / fit outs to
understand and carry out this role effectively.
need you to research companies that produce first class cabinetry works and fit
outs at competitive prices. Within this, you’ll need to weed out the unreliable, the unpredictable in their quality-type firms.
Working with companies that whinge, add to my workload, are
unresponsive, try and tell how long they’ve been in the game in order to prove
a point, bring me out in hives. I’m
looking for the builders and joinery who are the best at what they do and are
easy to work with – your task is to find them and bring into our supplier
be writing up written specs for contractors to quote on, referencing drawings
and renders but sometimes relying on your genius to paint a picture for them
verbally and in written form.
be comfortable negotiating with contractors with price and finishes in order to
meet client budgets
have a strong knowledge of building / joinery / fit outs so you can work with
contractors to deliver the best result
be totally sweet to deal with our clients and always come from a place of being
of service. We like to try and relieve
our clients problems, not add to their pile.
local, you’ll be up for going to contractor factories to inspect works in
production and ensure the quality is tops.
If not local, you’ll be all over them to provide photo reference and
asking probing questions to make sure stuff is being carried out as agreed.
be computer savvy enough to enter quotes into our custom designed project
management database as well as issue purchase orders out of this, match
invoices against quotes
love schedules like I love ice cream ie. a lot. You’ll be all over schedules
and managing the install process to ensure critical deadlines are reached
be cool to be on site to manage the install process and direct contractors to
ensure a fuss-free install
be compiling the insurance documentation for job, gathering the insurance /
SWMS from involves contractors and then writing the overarching Diva Works
WH&S document for the project.
compile the maintenance manual for the display listing care, cleaning
instructions, AV manuals and present to client post handover.
