Firdaus Rahman is a young Singapore man attempting to be a professional skateboarder in a country which is one of the most policed and heavily regulated cities in the world. Skateboarding is virtually illegal everywhere, and what makes this dream even harder to achieve is that Rahman is in the middle of compulsory service for the Singaporean police. DAPA travelled to Singapore for Billabong to document this amazing story and kick off their new 'I skate because' campaign. Attempting to film skateboarding in the regulated city felt just as hard as attempting to skate, setting up cameras and lights at a staircase hoping Rahman would land his trick first time was an exciting challenge. With only three days to film everyone involved was very excited by the outcome.
