As a regular features writer for “Bullsh!t”, I write 1000 word articles about what I believe to be relevant issues. My article topics include ‘twenty-somethings’ lifestyle, music, politics, education, music and travel. Some of these articles have received over 200 hits. This role allows me to develop my personal voice, writing skills, editing skills and online media skills.
I created The Tea Trails blog to explore what I have defined as "The Tea Experience", and how it has been created and sustained by advertising and marketing. I regularly post humorous blog entries, a ‘Flavour of the Month’, a ‘Tea Fancies’ section as well as a display of my creative works. The Tea Trails has active Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Once a fortnight I sat in on meetings and creative planning brainstorms, observing and offering my insight. Some of the companies included: Toyota, Lexus, Cadbury, NGOs and Big W. I had input into a few key projects, one of which was developed into the new Big W shopping app where I met with designers and the Creative Director of Big W. I recently also completed a day of work experience at the New York office of Saatchi & Saatchi, USA.
I was a mentee within the AMI's 'Emerging Marketers' program, where I met up with an assigned member of the industry fortnightly to discuss and better understand my direction within the creative industry. My mentor was Danielle Fletcher, Digital Marketer at Shoes of Prey.
This internship position focused on marketing and event management. My role ranged from planning careers related events and corresponding with businesses, to developing marketing strategies and developing advertising materials.
