About Chelsea

Chelsea Thistlewaite is an Australian filmmaker and artist who uses film, photographs and video installation in her work. She has directed short films, music videos, and commercials. Chelsea is a graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

Chelsea was born in Batemans Bay in 1991. She studied digital art and media at the Australian National University in Canberra, before moving to Sydney to study at AFTRS where she wrote and directed Spit, a short film adaptation of a short story by James Franco. Chelsea has shot multiple short films and music videos.

Chelsea aims to create work that is fundamentally truthful. She identifies with capturing complex moments that speak volumes of human psychology.

Chelsea is currently in post-production for her short film Tether, which was chosen as a 2015 funding recipient from MetroScreen in conjunction with ScreenNSW.
