Established in 1982, CATC DESIGN SCHOOL (previously known as Commercial Arts Training College) is now one of Australia’s largest private vocational design schools with courses available in the fields of graphic design, interior design, multimedia and photography.

CATC Design School is a recognised Vocational Education Provider that offers you more than just an education. We’re passionate about your success – and want you to stand out from the competition.

We have campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, all specifically designed as studio spaces (as opposed to classrooms).

Our focus is on helping you become the very best designer you can be. If you’re looking for a creative career, you’ve come to the right place. With a little help from us, we’ll equip you with the skills to transform you into a qualified designer with excellent hands-on, industry-relevant skills.

We’re committed to developing your skills as an individual and we recognise the importance of finding work when you graduate. With industry practitioners as lecturers, strong industry connections and a dedicated focus on portfolio development, completing these courses will position you as a highly-qualified and sought after graduate.

Become a CATC Design School student and you’ll experience an interactive, energetic and creative learning environment. You’ll mix with industry professionals, supportive staff and like-minded design students. When it’s time to leave the College, you’ll be an inspired, confident and committed individual, with a valuable set of skills and contacts.

You don’t need any specific experience to study at CATC. What we are looking for are creative individuals with a passion for design. Check out some of the CATC students work and news here - http://catchpig.com/

Awards and Achievements

  • 'Best Interior Fitout' award at the NSW Master Builders Awards in Sydney
Think Education鈥檚 brand new design campus in Ultimo and its construction company JDV have been recognised by winning a 'Best Interior Fitout' award at the NSW Master Builders Awards in Sydney. Speaking after the awards ceremony at Star City, Project Manager, Campus Design and Delivery Michael O'Brien (who is also Head of Academic Studies for Interior Design, Think Education) said he hopes the award will be the first of many. The Ultimo campus is a collaborative project led by Think Education鈥檚 Andy Donaldson, Chief Information Officer, Laureate Australia and Director of Learning Environments and Michael O'Brien, Project Manager, Campus Design and Delivery/Head of Academic Studies Interior Design at Think Education, Jason Devos, Managing Director for JDV Projects and Moda Design Group鈥檚 Angelo Sansano, Director Moda Design Group. The Ultimo campus has been purposely designed for Think Education鈥檚 Design Faculty (delivered through the Billy Blue College of Design and CATC Design School). Situated in a converted heritage building in Ultimo, it has a unique urban vibe that comes from its rich inner city history. It is more than 3,000sqm over three levels supporting a variety of learning spaces including shared services hubs for student support and exhibition spaces. It features open spaces, natural light, high ceilings and has a distinctly industrial edge. It has a combined caf茅-library to invite students to come on campus to relax and collaborate. Other features of the campus include: 路 24/7 campus access and learning support 路 Modern design, layout and furniture inspired by the local surrounds (e.g. caf茅s and restaurants) 路 Adaptable, open plan learning spaces with an emphasis on promoting collaboration 路 Workstations that support the flexible use of technology 路 Collaborative Hubs: Spaces outside of primary teaching areas designed to foster natural social interaction and team collaboration. 路 Incubator Pods: Customisable, serviced business spaces that graduates can use to start their own business or social enterprise. The pods can also be serviced by industry partners, facilitating direct engagement and collaboration between students and industry (e.g. an information desk, a pop-up store, student brainstorming and collaboration). These pods aim to bring the real world into the campus environment and help connect students with their future. 路 Showcase Spaces: Areas to display and celebrate student works or feature a course, technology or industry sponsor For more information please contact: Ben Hornbrook, 0431 180 161/bhornbrook@boxingclever.net.au
