About the project

The Vines of Mendoza is a privately owned company based in Mendoza, Argentina. While operating and selling private vineyard estates as well as a wine tasting room maintains the bulk of their core business, a new venture for them in 2013 is a resort and spa at the foothills of the Andes Mountains.

The Vines of Mendoza aimed to create a digital travel portal for this region, attracting travelers to the resort and spa while supporting tourism for the region as a whole.

The Experience Mendoza site created a comprehensive resource for travelers, providing them with engaging and dynamic tourism pages, an interactive map, and rich use of photography. With few previously existing resources for travelers to the Mendoza region, Vines saw an incredible opportunity to visually showcase the area for the rich beauty and incredible travel opportunities it offers.

From accommodations to activities to itineraries, visitors to Experience Mendoza can find all of the information they need to make their trip to the area a success. At the heart of the website is the familial sense that all of the suggested information comes straight from The Vines of Mendoza owners themselves, tips and insight they have procured over the past decade while doing business in Argentina.

Allowing a visitor to curate his or her own travel itinerary and navigate through the beautiful region from their own home was central to making the site successful. A travel itinerary created by a user, with their own personalized set of Mendoza attractions, can be emailed to them or forwarded to a friend. Each attraction’s page is social-integrated to be shared on popular social networks.

An obstacle for tourism in the area had been the lack of maps and information architecture for an area of the world about which there was little content available. Reactive was able to circumvent this by integrating Google maps, Google site search integration, and allowing for IP detection so that the site automatically loads in one of three languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish).

Launched in early March 2013, ExperienceMendoza.com utilizes Google Analytics to measure website visitation. As promotion of the website increases in the coming months, they expect to see a continued rise in website traffic and referrals to the other Vines of Mendoza websites.
