Science communicator and filmmaker with a Ph.D. in Biology and cheerful outlook. I am hard-working, versatile and adaptable. I work to make science more accessible for every member of the community, regardless of interest or education.
After my undergraduate degree I left the UK and earned the nickname Jungle Girl. I enjoyed working as a team and learning problem solving and trouble shooting skills living in remote bush settings performing scientific research. I have worked in the most basic of conditions and don’t require running water to have a good time. I have lived and worked in many countries and cultures and have learnt universal communication skills such as smiling and pointing as well as more formal languages. I have extensive networks throughout the scientific community and am respected for my second-to-none work ethic and ability to stay up all night. Furthermore, I am extremely patient with bureaucracy and budget management after having to organise permits and grants to carry out my research. I am extremely practical and cool under pressure. I work to a consistently high standard and with infectious enthusiasm.
I worked as a researcher on WAC! (The World Animal Championships – Blacklab Entertainment for ABC3) and garnered a small taste of television production. I have a good understanding of various computer software and am a quick learner with new systems, having taught myself new programmes for modelling, statistics and video production throughout my studies. I have both writing and editorial skills that continue to develop as I continue to produce popular science articles in my spare time.
