Hello. I am a Conceptual Artist & Photographer based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. I specialise in the fields of Product Photography & Conceptual Imagery (all the included skills of art direction, visual storytelling, product/prop/still life styling and stills photography).
My creative practice covers both my own personal artistic projects and commercial work for clients. Commercially, I specialise in the areas of Product Photography & Styling; and the making of Conceptual Imagery for publications.
In all of my work I have three aims: to add value; to create beauty and interest; and to enjoy myself so I can contribute highly. Holistically, I am inspired by the desire to share and contribute to the world; to create things of beauty and substance; and to produce positive shifts with the things I put my hand to. In my product photography and client work, I see myself as being able to bring additional elements to other people’s work that strengthens and amplifies what they are already doing themselves. My favorite work occurs when my own work adds to the success of other people’s endeavors.
In 2006 I developed my side project – Karina Jean – a label under which I develop and produce wearable objects using digital design, 3D printing and casting methods. I sold my wears online, and performed all the design, engineering, manufacture management, styling, photography and advertising tasks myself. Through this I cultivated a wide skillset and strong first-hand understanding of the use and effectiveness of imagery for retail in the online and print domains. I now bring that knowledge to my clients in my Product Styling projects for www.karinasharpe.com.au

I am the Conceptual Artist, Karina Sharpe.
I work as both a commercial artist for brands and creative agencies, as well as an exhibiting artist for my own body of work. In today’s world, good imagery is paramount, but transformative imagery is golden, and I only work in the realm of gold.
Commercially, my work focuses on the creation of visual narratives to elevate client products and ideas. I work with a diverse range of clients, translating their distinct concept or brand message into memorable imagery. I work one-on-one with my clients to understand their unique vision and ethos in its entirety. With this as my foundation, I create a visual landscape that is both cohesive and irresistible; subsequently creating a storyline their audience yearns to be a part of.
My background in industrial design and mechanical engineering lends a unique blend of precision, flair and artistry to my work, while the dual nature of my practise invites my commercial work to be uplifted and inspired by the originality that comes from my artistic explorations – and therein lies the gold.
This commercial work takes me across the fields of advertising, editorial, product photography & styling, commercial art applications and art for public spaces.
Artistically, I create from a desire to make the mind smile. My artistic work is most strongly influenced by the natural world and botanical studies, which I am currently merging with modern styles and influences from other industries, such as fashion, science and still life editorial. The juxtaposition of human life and nature is also of particular interest to me, as are the concepts of reality, time and perception.
To me, nothing much is ordinary.
