About Daniel

Daniel Monks is a graduate of the Australian Film Television & Radio School and PAC Screen Workshops, which culminated in him winning the award for Consistent Excellence. Two of his recent short films, “Wild Imaginings” & “Charlotte” were both selected for Palm Springs International ShortFest 2011, making him one of only three filmmakers worldwide to receive that honour, having been selected from over 3000 short films. Charlotte won the Celluloid Casserole award for Best Short Film at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival 2012, and both of these short films went on to be selected for the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, Torino GLBT Film Festival and Nigah QueerFest, amongst many others. Daniel has completed numerous directing attachments and writing internships with some of Australia’s leading filmmakers, including Cate Shortland, Tony Ayres, Roger Hodgman, Belinda Chayko and Robert Connolly.
