My latest role is Managing a Training and Design Studio in a QLD Prison...Yup, you read that correctly, a Graphic Design Studio in a prison. Barbed Design is a social enterprise and is part of a Queensland Government initiative to help stop the re-offending rates of prisoners.
Barbed is an Australian first which provides a real studio environment behind bars. Our purpose is to work with prisoners who show creative talent, but have never had the opportunity for training for one reason or another. I am one of the founding team, and currently work to manage the studio, provide ongoing training and support, and also work on Business Development and Customer Relationship/Account Managment...and occasionally I get to design!
In addition to my current role, I have successfully managed a number of high profile accounts during my career, and genuinely value the connection and communication I am fortunate enough to develop with my clients and employees. This contributes to building and sustaining productive working relationships and collaborations, and in fostering a positive, cohesive and enjoyable working environment. My strengths in this area lie in my strong communication skills, ability to establish and maintain positive and enduring work relationships, productive team collaboration and leadership, and a strong work ethic.
My success in the Design and Advertising Industry is testament to my ability to innovate and develop concepts to completion, and to consistently update and maintain my industry and software knowledge and skills, which are all essential components to the managing a successful Creative Team. As the Creative Director of Atlantis Consulting I managed numerous large-scale design projects within the Brisbane Design and Advertising industry. I am a skilled and ambitious professional with proven experience developing, directing, and executing successful, visionary projects for high-profile accounts such as the Brisbane Broncos Leagues and Football Club, The Australian Lung Foundation and Amnesty International, all of which have proven my ability to build and sustain productive internal and external stakeholder relationships, whilst managing tight budgets and multiple deadlines.
Furthermore, my current role includes the development and research of training materials and learning objectives (based on real-world projects) Idea creation and strategy, Presentations, Team management and employment, Scheduling, Development and implementation of an in-house CRM solution, Business Development and client engagement, publicity and promotions/media opportunities plus so much more!
My career is testament to the fact that I am a highly motivated person who enjoys a challenge! Working as a teacher of Graphic Design, I have provided leadership, guided and mentored students and empowered them to achieve their creative and career goals. I am skilled at identifying learning and workplace objectives and in developing and contributing to industry relevant teaching programs.
