After a 6-month hiatus that left fashion subscribers worldwide lamenting the loss of their new golden child, ELLIOT WARD-FEAR returns in 2012 with his best and most exciting collection to date; Flame.
Flame is an Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, comprised of one-off, made to order separates. The collection is exploding with intricate detailing, luxurious embroidery and remarkable silhouettes in a palette of shimmering gold, retina-burning red, wax like camel and midnight blue. The colours of candlelight glowing in the darkness.
The Flame collection draws inspiration from ancient Chinese warriors, medieval battle armour and 1970s science-fiction heroines.
A signature feature of the Elliot Ward-Fear design process is the creation and development of a character that embodies the spirit of each collection’s aesthetic. With Flame, the protagonist is an ancient warrior Princess, who must conquer her internal demons to regenerate her spirit and restore order to the universe. Brought to life by the return of kiwi modelling sensation Liv O'Driscoll, Elliot started by envisioning and conceptualising this character’s epic journey, and thus the Flame was ignited.
The end result is a visually stunning line featuring panelled and cut-out Minidresses, cropped lace-up tops and jackets, high-waisted wide leg pants and an interesting array of embellished arm and leg guards. Some of the most exciting elements of the Flame collection are the latex pieces, designed by Elliot and created in collaboration with US-based Latex Designer Abigail Greydanus. Nude coloured cut-out latex stockings give the appearance of shed skin, whilst the latex navy blue high-neck jumpsuit is bound to become a favourite piece with the country’s most adventurous stylists.
Unique and luxurious fabrications are the backbone of the collection and include Japanese fabric paper, gold lame, double knot ponte, moleskin and a brushed suiting-grade wool/cashmere blend.
The stunning Flame lookbook photography brings this remarkable collection to life. Shot and directed by international photographic superstar Thom Kerr, model Liv O'Driscoll is transformed into a futuristic battle-ready bombshell, aided by the creative genius of stylist Cassandra Scott-Finn.
The Flame collection is available now for editorial loans from Mother & Father PR.
