I’m a 24-year-old graphic designer, illustrator and Newcastle expatriate now living in Melbourne. I have over three solid years of studio experience in branding and design, working within an eclectic range of industry sectors from entertainment through to government.
Growing up in Newcastle with childhood aspirations of being a ‘robot fixer’, I was on a steady course to a career in engineering. After realising that engineering actually involved a lot of maths and very little drawing cool-looking robots, it became clear that design was what I was looking for all along. After graduation, selling my station-wagon to fund the move to Melbourne seemed like a no-brainer and fortunately I found my feet after only enduring life in a Fitzroy hostel for a few weeks.
While studying at the University of Newcastle I started my own freelance design business as a way to supplement my theory based education with some more practical experience. Since graduating from university I have worked for a number of studios on a freelance or contractual basis including Kent Woodcock Creative, Balmain Marketing and EMBLAZE™. Since December 2010 I have been designing for FutureBrand, an international studio known for it’s strategic branding and creating some of Australia’s most iconic brands.
Clients I have worked with include Metro Trains, The Beatle Boys, International Cricket Council, Crown, International Olympic Committee, Anvil Buses, RMIT University, eNett and Hayman Island.
