Work experience as a runner on a 2-day shoot. After speaking to the staff at Hub Productions, I was able to secure 2 days of work experience on a Simonds Home Displays TVC shoot. Completing odd jobs such as cleaning up sets, picking up catering, running small errands for the crew and ensuring the crew were well fed and hydrated for the day. This was a nice change seeing what goes on during the on set productions before the footage hits the studio.
Following my transition to SMR Production Studio I took the role of junior editor and worked on the post-production of TVC ads, online content and corporate videos.
My experience enabled me to develop industry standard editing skills for large brands and clients such as Jetstar, Coles, First Choice Liquor and David Jones. Specifically I was producing the retail ads and corporate work for Jetstar. In this role I was able not only improve my technical abilities but also gained a broader understanding of client / agency interaction.
I joined Big Red Advertising as their Junior Digital assistant working on digital content/ online banners for Coles supermarket. During my brief time at Big Red Group, I was relocated to their affiliated post-production company, SMR Production Studios.
I worked in the finance department as an office assistant
administrator on a part time basis. Duties included general office and
administration including data input in the computer system. This was a fantastic work environment during my time at university. After four years at Network Ten, I resigned to move onto a full time job.
After completing university and my Honours degree, I was fortunate enough to secure a work experience role at the advertising agency J Walter Thompson Melbourne (JWT), in Melbourne, working there three days a week for two months as assistant editor in the broadcast department. They produced TVC’s for clients like Ford, Kraft, Nestle etc. I also created the internal Electronic Staff Christmas invitation card, which included audio-visuals in line with the theme for the night.
After two months of work experience at JWT it was time for me to move into full time employment.
Telephone interviewer - This involved calling people from all around Australia to participate in various surveys. I left the company to concentrate more on my last year of university.
Retail assistant at Cotton On Body, in a casual capacity.
