Matthew McMullen was born in 1987 in Sydney, Australia. He was a child full of imagination, reading constantly and losing himself in his own worlds, the material of a mind pre-disposed to the fantastic and loaded with creative potential.

Matthew’s main passions are graphic design and illustration. He used to draw in his early childhood never realising it could lead to a career in the creative arts. As a teenager he was interested in making short films which led to a
major work in his final year of high school (winning him an Award of Artistic Excellence in Visual Arts). This was his inspiration to enter Commercial Arts Training College where he soon realised he had found his calling. He is influenced by film, music, fashion, books, comics, and art in all it’s visual representations. Matthew graduated at the top of his class, winning the Award of Artistic Excellence.

After graduating he quickly found work as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. He worked for two years creating cover illustrations, posters, flyers, brochures, advertisements, packaging, web assets, storyboards, and TVCs.

During this time Matthew also continued to develop his personal work and attended many workshops here and abroad. Traveling has been important to his growth as an artist and designer. A recent two month journey through Europe has been particularly inspiring.

He is now on the hunt for new opportunities and wants to transform this inspiration into creative commercial works.
