Research: Supervisors and postgraduate research candidates from different cultural backgrounds face many challenges.Candidates studying outside their home country must adapt to a new culture, and for many there is also the need to learn and communicate in a language that is not their first. Additional challenges occur where there are mismatches in expectations about aspects of candidature and supervisory practice. This project aimed to fill the gap in both in research into the needs of this group of students, and the provision of resources to assist candidates and supervisors. Resources were developed from interviews and focus groups with higher degree research candidates and supervisors about their experiences.
