Katie Geppert is an artist and graphic designer. Born in Brisbane, Australia she studied Film & TV at TAFE before completing a Diploma in Multimedia Studies in 2000 and setting off on a diverse and rewarding career path.
Katie worked as a Graphics Coordinator for a major aerospace company at first, but moved to Melbourne in late 2004 and began working for a film distribution company. She was pleased with her move down south, because she was super keen to design film posters. In 2007, she began working for Madman Entertainment, Australia and New Zealand’s leading indie film distributor, where she spent five happy years designing DVD packaging, film posters, and print & digital advertising for some of the best films and television shows on the planet.
In 2009, Katie began working part-time as a freelance graphic designer, focusing on self initiated work and commissioned music projects, working across various fields of design, typography and illustration. She has created artwork for tour posters, album art and photography, and band merchandise. Katie became a full time freelancer in 2011 with experience in book design, visual identities, stationery, signage, type design, web, exhibitions, art direction and editorial work whilst expanding her business through selling her unique handmade items and art prints online.
With a back-to-basics, vintage aesthetic, Katie’s work encompasses painting, illustration, collage, hand drawn typography and photography, as well as traditional graphic design. She enjoys the process of creating and layering work, adding original handmade elements to her designs.
Katie believes that green is good. Maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and creating design with purpose she uses recycled, organic, environmentally gentle and locally produced products wherever possible, and only prints what is needed, with no over production and little wastage, minimising her environmental footprint.
