PR & Publicity Manager

The purpose of this new role is to create and promote a positive environment of opinion about the Company, its work and its artists, and to assist in generating ticket sales and other revenue.
Objectives of the role:

Key duties:
· Identify opportunities to generate media interest and coverage across the range of the Company’s activities and initiatives
* Regularly meet with teams across the Company
* Identify angles and develop pitches
* Seek opportunities to showcase the Company as a thought and opinion leader
· Develop and implement comprehensive media campaign plans for each of the Company’s
mainstage season productions
* Develop and pitch articles to journalists and coordinate with marketing, company management, production and artists as required
* Plan and manage media calls
* Work closely with the Company’s media partners to ensure editorial opportunities are leveraged
· Work with regional venue publicists to generate media coverage of the national tour
* Act as the main contact point for all publicists and media seeking to secure interviews
* Work closely with stage management and company management to coordinate access to artists
· Work with the Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy teams to manage their PR and
publicity requirements
* Develop and implement media campaign plans
* Work with teams to plan and manage media-related launches/events
* Work closely with partners’ publicists to jointly manage communications
· Work with the Education team to develop PR and publicity campaign plans to support and
promote the national Learning programme
* Plan and manage education-related media events/launches
* Seek to position Bell as a leader in this field
· Draft and coordinate the distribution of media releases, media call notices, web copy, regular
‘listings’ copy, publicity images and other content and communications as required for productions and other Company activities
· Manage media communications and attendance for opening nights, media nights and other major Company events
* Devise media invitation lists
* Attend events and greet media, assist with media ticket distribution
* Host social photographers
· Plan and manage the annual season media launch
* Ensure that the launch is attended by a broad range of key media contacts
* Meet with media in advance of the season launch to achieve coverage in a timely manner
* Prepare season media kits
· Build and maintain excellent relationships with journalists, critics, editors across all media
* Identify and understand key journalists’ attitudes towards the Company and manage these as required
* Build relationships with regional media and venue publicists to ensure the success of Company’s tours and education-related activities
· Maintain an up-to-date and broad-ranging database of national media and PR contacts
· Create and manage strategic relationships with social media users to increase the Company’s
profile in the non-traditional media space
· Manage media monitoring, analyse coverage and create media reports as required
* Distribute reviews and other relevant coverage throughout the Company
· Provide media advice and/or training to those within the Company who speak with the media
· Work with the General Manager/Deputy General Manager on issues/crisis management as required
· Work on the General Manager/Deputy General Manager on the development of key corporate
communications such as the Annual Report, speeches etc.
Selection criteria:
· Tertiary qualifications in media, PR, communications or other relevant discipline
· A minimum of 3 years of publicity experience, preferably in the arts or entertainment industries
· Exceptional presentation and communication skills (in particular written skills) targeting a variety audiences across including print, online, corporate/business, news, education, lifestyle
· Demonstrated experience in public relations
· Experience in working with artists/talent
· Highly-developed knowledge of the media and an extensive network of contacts
· Ability to work on multiple projects and to tight deadlines
· A willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and to travel
· Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and to be entrepreneurial
