Viacom Australia has two great
opportunities for two talented music oriented programmers to join our crew as a
Programmer on a permanent basis or as a Programmer on a 12 month fixed term

comprised of many of the world's most popular multimedia entertainment brands,
including MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.
Reporting into the Programming
Manager and being based in our Darlinghurst offices, both the Programmer roles are
responsible for creating themed music, coupled with captivating new playlists
and music features that will achieve music credibility, alongside meeting MTV’s
channel rating objectives.
The key responsibilities of the Programmer positions include:
Responsible for day-to-day music programming of 2 channels
Deliver daily logs on time and in conjunction with contractual
Ensure rotation policies are in line with the overall music policy
for the channels
Editorially check music to ensure song flow is strong to ensure
strong session length
Maintain Music Master database
Work closely with the Talent & Music department to ensure
talent deliveries to overarching Programming strategy & business
objectives, whilst ensuring label relationships remain strong
Be proactive in highlighting emerging and changing music trends
relevant to the channels being programmed and in identifying gaps in the
specialist music schedule
Responsible for ensuring the regulatory code relating to the
broadcast of music videos is adhered to, and that all restrictions on the music
videos are rigorously respected
Work with the Programming Manager to develop mid to long term
scheduling strategies for all Music channels
Responsible for creating the quarterly schedule template for the
channels ensuring they meet their strategic objectives
Initiate editorial for the channels whether hosted music
programming, longform programming, themed music or general strands
Contribute to other editorial on the channels including stunts and
Research music blocks for repeat showings
Awareness of all program clearance and compliance issues
First point of call for all editorial queries for the Music
Competitor knowledge and research
Monitor the progress of the schedule by reviewing audience figures
with the research team
Maintain up to date knowledge of competitor’s schedules
Maintain full knowledge of Music channels back catalogue and
liaise with relevant
The successful candidates will have:
3+ years in a similar role
Media programming experience essential
Broad Music knowledge across all eras and genres
Knowledge and understanding of television ratings measurements

Manage Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
- Curate relevant content to reach the client’s ideal customers.
- Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video and written).
- Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “social” way while cultivating leads and sales.
Utilise LOKE’s technology such as Aston Club and Boogiespot to promote client’s brands,
create social awareness and track ROI.
Conduct online advocacy and open stream for cross-promotions.
Oversee design (Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, etc).
Design, create and manage promotions and social ad campaigns.
Compile report for management showing results.
Develop a strategy and implement a proactive process for capturing customer online reviews. Monitor online ratings and respond accordingly.
Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the business. Report notable
threats to appropriate management.
Analyse campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for
revising the social media campaigns.
Monitor effective benchmarks (best practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns.
Analyse, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximise results.
