Industrial Designer - Mid Weight

ID/Lab is looking for an experienced, innovative, mid-weight Industrial Designer to design wayfinding signage for a broad range of projects like hospitals, urban, corporate, laboratories, teaching, retail and mixed-use environments. This includes branded environments, interiors and urban furniture.
You will be working on (mostly) larger projects within a team of graphic and industrial designers, and often in close collaboration with architects. It ranges from creative concepts through to complete documentation. Your designs should be creative, intelligent, buildable, and sustainable. ID/Lab specialises in projects within the Built Environment. We have a relatively young design department, rapidly growing and maturing and constantly developing ways to improve and excel. In this job you have an exciting opportunity to put your creative and professional stamp on the work delivered.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
As an Industrial Designer, you will have at least the following qualities:
Minimum of 4 years experience as an Industrial Designer working in a similar studio
Very strong 3D conceptual skills for items on a larger scale
Speed and accuracy
Ability to independently develop concepts
Ability to work closely with other designers in our team
Ability to work closely with our clients in the development of solutions
Understanding of the design process, from initial concept, design development, design intent, and final implementation to project completion
More than a basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
Ability and willingness to critique the work created; your own as well as the work from your peers
Ability to convey your point of view without being attached to it
Ability to work side-by-side with wayfinding strategists, to develop working solutions
Technical proficiency in the Abobe Creative Suite and a 3D modelling program such as Solidworks or VectorWorks
Strong problem solving skills as well as a true passion for creative design – rounded in reality and usability
