Take charge of Port Stephens Council's brand in this exciting new opportunity within the Public Relations & Marketing unit. Working as part of a dynamic team, the Communications Officer – Graphic Design will be an innovative, energetic, organised and highly skilled individual who has the ability to bring strategy to life, interpreting all the elements that make Port Stephens great and telling our stories through Council's full range of marketing materials. This role is a game changer, servicing internal and external customers in the development of cutting edge collateral.
What you need:Tertiary qualifications in graphic design or related field;Advanced knowledge, experience in all current Adobe Creative Suite applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and other relevant programs and technologies;Up to date knowledge of contemporary design trends and an appetite to push the boundaries;Demonstrated commitment to superior customer service and the ability to consult with clients to interpret a creative brief;Demonstrated organisational, problem solving and time management skills, including the ability to think creatively in a high volume work environment;An understanding of contemporary communications and marketing trends, web design and related trends;A sound understanding of photography, website design and content management;Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Council's Australian Business Excellence Framework;Knowledge of social media, its applications, and potential future directions;Ability to manage customer relationships, and gain and sustain confidence of stakeholders on all levels internally and externally;Demonstrated outstanding written and oral communication skills;Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, working both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-skilled team;General knowledge of the Port Stephens area;An understanding of local government and/or the public sector.
Salary Range: $63,235 to $74,032 pa (incl. super + retention allowance) + flexitime
