This is an opportunity for a talented and experienced Front End Developer to join an iconic brand as it spearheads the push toward paid online content.
Working from News Ltd's Holt St offices in Surry Hills this role sits within the team of designers, producers and developers that handle all digital content for The Australian masthead. This includes [..] [..] and the iPad and Android apps.
Following the successful launch of a paid subscription model for access to this online content we are seeking a talented developer to help us continue re-engineering the front end to stay at the forefront of the industry.
You will be one of two Front End Developers within a highly proficient team and will be working with cutting edge tools and the support of Australia's largest media organisation behind you.
To be successful in your application you will possess:
•Around 3 - 5 years front-end development experience
•Superior HTML and CSS skills, including relevant knowledge around accessibility, with experience implementing complex designs across multiple platforms and browsers for high traffic websites.
•Experience in writing clean and high-quality JavaScript using MVC.
•Experience in writing jQuery and ability to create custom plugins.
•Ability to use third-party JavaScript APIs including Google maps and charting libraries.
•Exposure to at least one backend programming language, preferably PHP.
•Exposure to basic database development.
•Proficiency with Adobe Creative applications – Photoshop in particular.
•Experience with Fatwire CMS would be advantageous
•Thorough understanding of web production in a multi project, deadline driven environment
•Able to balance technical complexity against client needs to find the optimal solutions considering low tech and creative alternatives
•A Front End Portfolio/URL work examples MUST be provided
•Constantly keep up with the latest and most promising frontend web technologies
