Job Description (4 days per week)
Schoolhouse Studios is seeking an entrepreneurial and creative person with excellent interpersonal and
organizational skills to oversee the operations of Schoolhouse Studios (Collingwood and East Brunswick sites) and
manage events and programs (talks, exhibitions, live music events) at the Collingwood site.
Community minded applicants with administration and/or management experience from a creative eld will be

This role requires a multi-tasker who can roll up their sleeves and get involved in every facet of the business, when
required. The Manager of Operations will report to Creative Directors and the Board.
As a member of the Schoolhouse Studios team you will be exposed to a range of professional development
opportunities (via access to applicable workshops, lectures and skills training) as well as clear and regular evaluation
and performance assessment.
This is an exciting role for someone looking to embed themselves in the creative culture of Melbourne. The
successful applicant will engage regularly with artists both established and emerging, creative practitioners, local
businesses, members of the local council, and inspiring community activists passionate about keeping artists in the
In addition, this role also requires you be available for daily hands on tasks including cleaning, changing light bulbs,
patching and painting gallery walls, watering plants, receiving deliveries and the occasional on call duty (locksmiths,
plumbing, electrician liaison and so on). Can you juggle?
Breakdown of Tasks
Administration and Management
> Manage and oversee all basic financial matters including accounts payable/receivable, bank
reconciliations, managing studio rent and financial reporting to the Board.
> Managing the occupancy of both Schoolhouse Studios sites. Liaising with new artists, distribution of
keys and general correspondence.
> Liaising with property agent and contractors in regard to basic building maintenance across both sites.
> Manage the tenant lease agreements
> Ensure Schoolhouse Studios complies with regulations in regards to OHS, financial records and permits
> Maintain accurate files and an organised office
> Programming and Marketing
Marketing / PR
> Weekly social media communication for events and happenings at Schoolhouse Studios. Including social
media and website updates, newsletter and monthly exhibition promotion.
> Program selection, Coordinating, and communicating in regard to all Schoolhouse Studios events.
> Managing all venue hire enquiries, (quoting, billing etc.).
> Correspondence with bar/event manager
> Coordinating the monthly exhibition program at Long Division Gallery, Schoolhouse Studios. Including
marketing material, social media, advertising, installing and de-installing of exhibitions.
> Liaison with selection committee
Skills, Experience & Attributes required:
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and self motivate.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and basic understanding of Xero accounting, Mailchimp, Wordpress
Confidence and skill in using Social Media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.).
Effective and creative problem solving skills
Strong program management skills
Some knowledge and experience in business nance
Passion for promoting and prioritising safe spaces for people of all abilities, queer, trans and gender diverse
people, rst peoples and people with diverse intersectional ethnic identities.
Positive personality and outlook on life
Flexible and resourceful and experience in working in a not-for-pro t organisation with limited resources
