What if illustration was a game and not a job?

About the project

Lucy has played games her whole life. Tennis, cricket, soccer and netball. As well as billiards, bar billiards and any kind of card game. If there’s a stick on the ground Lucy will play a game.

Illustration is just one of the mediums in life which Lucy has found enjoyment playing with.

So when a brief came in for someone to capture the fun of gameplay with their own unique pallette of pattern, colour and character it was none other than Lucy’s brief.

Skip through the pencils and final pages below and you’ll see that our lovely client just let the ball roll with this one. Lucy’s imagination was allowed to go anywhere it wanted. From hermit crabs to timid cows, a crooning koala to teddy bears picnicking, T-rex’s screaming for icecream and a baby owl hooting for the same. Everything Lucy conjured up captured what it is to be a child at play. At no stage in the briefing process were any of these animals requested. They bounced out of Lucy’s imagination and onto the page and were too irresistible to question.

But this is not the only time Lucy has let the dinosaurs out of her mind and into the world to play. Scroll right to the bottom of the images below and you’ll gain a special insight into the playful nature of Lucy Izzard. Her very own Sno-rex, made with snow and sculptured out of pure joy with her brother Nathan.
