I worked primarily for Camp Treetops, a non-profit, co-educational residential summer camp in Lake Placid, NY. Camp Treetops caters for children aged 8 to 15, placing great value on community. This progressive camp specialises in experiential education in areas including arts, music, non-competitive sports, water sports, horse riding, wilderness expeditions and organic farming. I performed a vast range of roles here including, but not limited to: coordinating and overseeing smooth running of alumni weekend retreat; primary care of small groups of children; delivering instructional lessons as well as recreational activities in areas such as swimming, horse riding, animal care, farming and harvesting, visual arts and wilderness expeditions; managing large teams of staff performing roles in a range of program areas; running staff training sessions; assessing skill levels of both children and staff members; managing swimming teachers and classes; devising and implementing new teaching systems; weekly duty scheduling; facilitating leadership program for oldest children aged 14 – 15; coordinating mentorship program; coordinating team building and community service activities and projects; facilitating and participating in daily grounds maintenance projects; organising and running special events; encouraging social cohesion; providing constant supervision; managing disciplinary issues; regular communication with parents; enforcing rigorous safety standards; providing art, graphic, photographic and video services when required.
