Amy enjoys many things: banana and strawberry smoothies, untying knots, drinking tea, looking through her old book collection, surrounding herself with good design and talking about herself in 3rd person.
She can often be found making jokes with friends, sitting at her computer listening to music, cooking lasagna or cooing over the nearest puppy.
In terms of design, Amy has a very clean approach, preferring a sparse use of colour and a lot of negative space to filling every gap with stuff. Amy has a particular interest in typography and the way type can make or break a design. Amy also has a secret love of little mundane jobs like adjusting kerning and photoshopping photos.
Overall, Amy is quite a nice person. She does her best to smile a lot and will put everything she has into everything she does.
Working in retail (especially over the Christmas period) has helped to further develop my customer service and interpersonal skills. One of my jobs was also helping out with the visual merchandising within the store and making the store look good. Both of these skills, I believe, are very helpful when considering a career in design.
Working under the supervision of the graphic designer I created designs for various departments within the company including pamphlets, web banners, logos and billboards.
