Overview

We are living in a world where very distinct disciplines are collaborating with each other creating interdependencies never seen before. About my Brain intends to bring together three communities: neuroscience, business, and the arts.

In our weekly blog Silvia Damiano, our founder shares some of the latest findings in the neuroscience field applied to leadership and also her reflections and experiences in the business world.

WHY ART?
Information is everywhere. Absorbing new knowledge can become easier and more appealing through the use of the arts. With this purpose in mind, we engage young artists to help disseminate scientific and business knowledge in order to make it more accessible for everyone.

We like to provide opportunities for young talent to exhibit their work and be promoted. Whether you are an artist, animator, film maker, designer or creative writer, being involved in our Brain Art Community means you will acquire knowledge outside your area of expertise, become inspired and participate in activities that will allow you to promote and potentially sell your work to different audiences.

WHY NEUROSCIENCE?
Neuroscience is the science that studies the brain to explain human behaviour. Many of the latest findings can be applied to the areas of problem solving, decision making, creative thinking, interpersonal relationships, change, and emotional regulation. Learning these scientific facts can certainly make a difference in how we perform in the workplace and in our daily lives.

OUR EVENTS AND PROGRAMS
People learn best when they are in an environment where imagination, play and curiosity are nurtured. At About my Brain we are passionate about spreading knowledge in a fun and interactive way. With this purpose in mind we host a range of events and programs that aim to educate and build a community with like minded people.

Our annual event is the Brain Art Exhibition and Unconference, the first one of its kind in Australia, which will be held at Global Gallery in March 2011. This unique event which has two main objectives: enhance brain awareness within the community and encourage young and emerging talent to participate by entering the Brain Art Competition.

Together with the Exhibition of the finalists of the competition entrants, we will be holding a mixture of talks, group discussions and workshops that will take place over the course of ten days. This is what we call the Unconference. Check out the program and the speakers for 2011 at www.brainartexhibition.com
