|Education||Bachelor degree(Billy Blue College of Design)|
I’ve come from around as far north as you can be—Stockholm in Sweden—to about as far south as you can go—Sydney in Australia—to study design. My head was spinning during my first few days the Billy Blue College of Design, I really didn’t have a clue what was going on. I thought graphic design was limited to logos, business cards and, maybe, websites. The next 2 and a half years were filled with challenges and I was lucky to be constantly encouraged, share plenty of laughter and, overall, a wonderful learning experience.
One of my biggest challenges has been to identify who I am as a designer. Learning different skills, having new experiences, working on a huge range of projects have all helped shape me as a designer but there’s no one thing that I can say really defines my ‘style’. So I started to look back on all the projects I’ve been involved with to see if I could find a common thread, which I did. For me it’s all about the ideas!
Getting the briefs and identifying the key issues and problems to be solved is the beginning of an exciting adventure for me. When I come up with a proper, well thought through solution the satisfaction I feel is amazing. To discover such solutions I’ve never let any lack of technique, skill or knowledge slow me down. If it requires an outcome or technique that I don’t know, I learn it. My ideas are never restricted to my own skill set; everything is focused on finding the right solution for the problem.
