Major work - ' HORIZONS'

'Horizons' is a luxury pool wear collection. Inspired by my design mentor Herve Leger, the collection is driven by a uniquely developed strapping fabrication. I worked very closely with a textile manufacturer to achieve this fabrication, which has become a focal point of difference against my competitors of a similar market. The knitted strapping, along with directive lines has been used to control and contour the female figure. In terms of construction, I explored options to achieve a sleek seamless, stitch free finish to some of my garments. For this, I used a technologically advanced product developed in Hong Kong which is used to bond seams together so no stitching is required.
Vintage silhouettes and cuts have been adopted and recontextualized for the sexy, confident, modern day woman and combined with the gradation of refreshing vibrant colours. I used dying techniques and sublimation printing techniques to achieve my colours and gradation. By hand, I sublimate printed all the strapping fabric myself. Tonal variations are also achieved through the use of sheer woven and stretch fabrics which reveal and conceal parts of the body, allowing the longer covering piece to maintain sexy and light.
The pool pieces are matched with sheer and opaque chiffon, georgette and crepe de chine silks as well as high quality leather outerwear. These outer pieces allow the wearer to move from a luxury pool setting to an evening bar setting. I feel the 'pool wear' market is less saturated than swimwear and resort wear and thus I can cater to this newer market.
