FirstCut Studio is a music composition and sound-post company based in Sydney. The FirstCut team have produced award winning original compositions exploring countless musical genres and styles for advertising, film, television and live performance. It is also a collection of state-of-the-art facilities, and home to an exceptional team of charismatic, experienced and talented composers, musicians, producers, recording engineers, sound designers, and mixers.

FirstCut was created by acclaimed composer Basil Hogios and is set up in a unique way to provide a real alternative to what is out there. Our production model is uniquely designed to be flexible to suit any sized project. Each project has a music and sound solution individually tailored for it, so we can deliver alot more for the budget, with no compromise on quality and client experience.


Our people have worked with well known companies such as Publicis Mojo, Cherub Pictures, Film Construction, ArenaFilm, ABC, SBS, MTV, and worked with the top creatives in Australia such Jim Sharman, John Bell, Nigel Jamieson, and Richard Roxburgh. In the music industry as producers and recording engineers, we have worked with such artists as Empire of the Sun, INXS, Josh Pyke, Katie Noonan and The Basics.
